Hurra! It’s almost time to break out the best grilling meats, kick up our kierpces and celebrate National Polka Weekend. Are you ready to eat, drink and polka for 72 hours straight? If not, let us help you prepare for the big weekend, which this year happens to fall on May 22nd. Because it’s also Memorial Day Weekend, you’ll certainly need one of our large, EZ Disposable Grills and several packages of Polish Kielbasa. They’re hickory-smoked and ready for the grill. Each package will be enough to make a dozen Polish Boys, Chicago-style

Of course no Chi-Town, Polish Boy sandwich would complete without a bun and three other items; vinegar based coleslaw, Chicago Hit Sauce and hand-cut French fries. And if you want to replace the hit sauce with Big Bad Bubbas BBQ Sauce, we don’t think too many Polish Boy fans will complain. If they do, you can always point them in the direction of the appetizer table. Just make sure that you fill it with Polish kielbasa chips and a wide variety of hot sauces. The chips are easy enough to make.

Simply grill up some extra Polish kielbasa and let it cool. Then slice each link into bite-size rounds and put them into a decorative bowl. Squirt some of hot sauces or honey glaze into a second bowl and provide an assortment of toothpicks. Afterward, encourage the Polish Boy purists to spear the kielbasa chips with the picks and then dip them into one of the sauces before taking a bite. That should satisfy their hunger without stepping on to their Chi-Town pride. If not, provide heaping bowls full of sauerkraut, Polish coleslaw, garlic stuffed olives and pickles. In Chicago, they’re National Polka Weekend staples too. To learn more about the best grilling meats for Polish celebrations, please contact us at Deli Direct.

Cheese and sausage gift baskets may be alright for some, but an increasing number of Americans are turning their attention towards packages of gourmet martini olives. Why? They are perfect gifts for people who take their cocktails and home wet bars seriously. Plus, today’s martini olives come in a surprising array of varieties. Consequently, cocktail connoisseurs will surely find flavors to match their idea of a Heavenly indulgence. Let’s take a look at a few of those flavors and how well they blend into a bartender’s favorites:

Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives

Redneck Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives are tailor made for bleu martinis. The cocktails are typically made by adding equal amounts of vodka to dry vermouth. Then they’re traditionally topped off with blue cheese stuffed olives and served alongside of cocktail crackers that have the same flavors. But that’s not the only use for these babies. Bartenders like to add them to dirty and French martinis too.

Garlic Stuffed Olives

Redneck Garlic Lovers Stuffed Olives, on the other hand, are ideal for whipping up a batch of Sicilian martinis. They are usually made from combining 1.5 ounces of garlic-infused vodka with 1/8 ounce of Italian dry vermouth. We’ve also seen them added to Cajun and Spanish martinis, which involve gin instead of vodka.

Spice Stuffed Olives

If you know of a cocktail connoisseur that likes things on the hot and spicy side, there are quite a few martini olive flavors to consider. Among them are Habanero, Fire in the Hole, Garlic and Jalapeno. They could be used to make mystical and Los Altos martinis. The first martini is made with 1.5 ounces of mescal and ¼ ounce of blonde lillet whereas the Los Altos contains 1.5 ounces of Mexican tequila and a dash of Chardonnay.

Asparagus Stuffed Olives

Let’s not forget about Redneck Asparagus Stuffed Olives. Many serious bartenders love to add them to drinks made with bloody Mary mix. So feel free to toss them into everything from a bloody moose to a bloody Caesar. They’re also excellent when paired with gimlets, Jalisco martinis and oyster shooters. The shooters, by the way, are made with ½ teaspoon of horseradish, 2 dashes of hot sauce, raw oysters and draft beer. The raw oysters and asparagus stuffed olives are eaten on the side and the other three ingredients get mixed together.

Although deli meats and sausages should definitely be a part of any holiday party plans, the tasty offerings shouldn’t stop there. After all, neither man nor beast can live on just meats alone. So we’ve compiled a list of incredible finger foods and lip-smacking party treats that go beyond the expected fare:

1.) Hot and Spicy Beans

Why not skip the messy, bland, three bean salads and go with something pickle-icious instead? Yes, we’re talking hot, spicy, pickled green beans baby! They look fantastic on a plate and may be eaten with the fingers or a fork. For added color, combine the Hot and Spicy Beans with other sliced, pickled veggies like yellow and orange peppers.

2.) Wasabi Peas

Pair those beans with another crunchy veggie that’s been given a palatable twist, dried wasabi peas. They are inherently spicy too. So the two foods would just go well together. For a great tablescape look, consider putting the wasabi peas in vegetable baskets instead of regular bowls. Your guests should love it!

3.) Bloody Mary Soaked Pickles

We’ve likely all seen pickles on a party platter before. That’s because they’re an essential part of most party plans. However, you can opt to buck tradition and give your guests something they’re not expecting. Items that come to our minds are pickles that have been soaked with unusual brines. Can anyone say, “bloody Mary pickles?”

4.) Stuffed Olives

Okay, so we know that stuffed olives are typical holiday fare but there are ways to make them atypical. For example, you could stuff them with ingredients that no one would expect. Excellent choices include asparagus, pearl onions, garlic cloves, artichokes, bleu cheese and jalapeno.

5.) Chubby Cheeks

Lastly, why not get a little corny? To do just that, create one or a series of bowls that contain our Chubby Cheeks snack. It’s a churro caramel corn nugget treat that tastes great alone or with a few modifications. To alter the nuggets flavor, think about adding a dusting of powdered sugar, carob or cocoa.
