Caramelized onions add a deep, rich flavor to most any savory dish. Sometimes, though, you don't want to take the time to cook them before you can start the rest of your recipe. Taking a shortcut with our Caramelized French Onion Dip mix gives you all the flavor without the fuss.

Try these seven crazy, ingenious recipes with our Caramelized French Onion Dip to make your family or dinner guests think you slaved over the meal. Then use the time you save for an extra cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

1. Hearty Roast Beef or Pork

Not only does the dip mix save you time you'd usually spend measuring spices and mincing herbs, but you can save even more time by popping it into the oven or the slow-cooker and using that cook time for other tasks.

For quick clean-up, prepare your meal in an oven cooking bag. This also keeps the meat moist, while the "low and slow” cooking technique makes it tender.

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of flour into the bag and shake it well to coat the inside.

Next, place a beef or pork roast inside the bag. You can use any cut of beef or pork, but a rump roast or sirloin roast works well. Scrub baby carrots, small potatoes, and baby portabella mushrooms; if the potatoes are large, cut them in half.

Mix a package of Caramelized French Onion Dip mix with 3/4 cup of water. Pour the sauce over the roast, massaging it through the bag to be sure the whole surface is coated. Add the carrots, potatoes and mushrooms and close the bag with its tie. Cut five or six 1/2-inch slits. Bake the roast for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until it is tender.

2. Not Your Mama’s Meatballs

Mix up a batch of Caramelized French Onion Dip meatballs; you won't need your mama’s marinara to top them. They're perfect all by themselves or served up on crusty French or Italian bread rolls as sandwiches.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix 1 package of dip mix with 1 pound of ground turkey, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, and 1 egg. Use your hands to blend everything thoroughly and then form the mixture into meatballs. For an extra touch, tuck a small piece of mozzarella or cheddar cheese into the center of the meatball.

Place the balls on a 9-inch x 13-inch baking sheet that you've lined with parchment paper, and cook them for 20 minutes or until they are cooked through.

If you still want a sauce after you taste these yummy treats, mix a little softened cream cheese, sour cream, and dip mix together in a saucepan, and heat it through on low heat.

3. Palate-Pleasing Cheesy Bread

Cheese and onions: what more do you need to know about this dish to know it's going to be a new favorite?

You can use any cheese blend that you have on hand if these aren't your favorites. And you can even make this ahead of time and freeze it for later. Just pop it into zippered freezer bags before baking, then thaw and bake it when you're ready to nosh.

Grate 2 cups each of sharp cheddar and Monterrey Jack cheeses. Mix them with 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese (the good, fresh stuff), 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 4 tablespoons softened butter, and a package of Caramelized French Onion Dip mix.

Cut a loaf of crusty French bread in half lengthwise, and spread the cheese mixture on both halves. Bake the bread at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or if you're baking it straight out of the freezer, bake it for 20 minutes.

4. Kicked Up Grilled Cheese

It's hard to believe, but there might be times when you actually have a bit of Caramelized French Onion Dip leftover after a party. Don’t let it go to waste!

Spread one side of two slices of whole wheat bread with the dip. Place one slice dip-side down in a skillet or on a griddle (or panini press). Then, top with your favorite cheese (a smoky Gouda would be terrific) and add the second slice of bread, dip-side up. Toast the sandwich on the first side and then flip it to toast the other side.

5. Too Tired to Cook Pasta

If you have Caramelized French Onion Dip and pasta, you've got dinner!

Mix the dip according to the package directions, add a little olive oil to the dip to thin it slightly, then toss it with cooked pasta. Serve it warm with a green salad or chill it for a unique twist on pasta salad.

6. (Semi)Homemade Salad Dressing

Impress your family or guests with a special salad dressing. Make Caramelized French Onion Dip according to the package directions, then add a splash of milk to make it pourable. Toss a variety of salad greens, some walnuts or almonds, a bit of feta or bleu cheese, and a handful of dried cranberries, and then top them with your "secret recipe" salad dressing.

7. Creamy French Onion Chicken and Rice

While you are preparing the chicken, cook 1 cup of brown rice in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of water until it is tender.

Slice and sauté one onion in a little olive oil until it is translucent and just beginning to turn golden. Add 1 cup of chicken broth. Season two skinless, boneless chicken breasts or four thighs; add them to the onion and broth, and cook them for 8 minutes.

Add 1/2 cup Caramelized French Onion Dip, 1/2 cup of milk, and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning, stirring it in thoroughly. Cook it for 4 minutes longer or until the chicken is cooked completely.

Spoon rice onto a plate and top it with the chicken. Pour the pan sauce over the top of the dish.

Another great way to use this seasoning is to make it into a dip for raw vegetables, chips, bread, or crackers. For something a little less spicy choose our Jumpin' Hot Jalapeno Mix, which is one notch below Beat the Heat. Here's a tasty recipe to try:

Spicy Roasted Red Pepper Cream Cheese Dip

  • 1 jar roasted red peppers, drained
  • 1 package Beat the Heat Habanero Mix or Jumpin' Hot Jalapeno Mix
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened

Mix all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth.

Serve with an assortment of bread, crackers, raw veggies, or tortilla chips.

Note: Those who are sensitive to dairy products can make this dip with soft goat cheese.

Holy Guacamole!

Guacamole is a wonderful way to get some healthy fats into your diet. Our Gringo Guacamole Dip Mix makes some seriously tasty guacamole. It can be mixed up per the package directions, or you can try this delicious recipe:

Gringo Guacamole

Stuffed Artichokes

If your dad loves artichoke spinach dip, he'll love our Stuffed Artichoke Dip. It's our #1 best seller! Just mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup sour cream and chill. A great way to serve this dip is with warm Hawaiian bread or slices of a French Baguette.

A New Year's Eve party isn't complete without exciting food to munch on. Here are three ideas for tasty treats and party dips for your late-night shindig.

Vegetable Tray - A vegetable tray is a party classic. It is perfect for those watching their weight or who have allergies. Make the tray visually appealing by arranging the vegetables in a design or pattern. Another way to spice up your tray is with a dip. Forget your boring, normal dip and try our Hearty Cheddar Bacon Dip or our Gringo Guacamole Dip. You'll love the fun flavors and exciting combinations.

Brownie Bites - When it comes to a party, finger foods are the best. This is true even in deserts. Brownie bites are a great option. You get the brownie that everyone loves, but in a convenient finger food. They also go great with different desert dips. Brownies pair well with our White Chocolate Raspberry Dip and our Sea Salt Caramel Dip.

Graham Crackers - For those who like deserts that are a little less sweet, graham crackers are a perfect choice. They are delicious and crunchy, but also pair well with other items. The Sinfully Cin-a-Bun Dip gives the graham crackers a classic cinnamon twist, while the Heaven Sake Cheesecake Dip makes a lovely graham cracker treat.

Whether you are expecting a house full of people or a quiet night with a few friends, These foods are a great addition to any party.

Don’t torture friends and family with leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches. There are so many better ways to get rid of leftovers, especially when cheese dips are in the house. A Spice Above’s Blazin’ Buffalo Dip is one of our personal favorites to use with holiday leftovers. Sold in one ounce packages, it’s made with cayenne peppers, paprika, garlic, hot sauce, butter, vinegar and more. Here’s what this fabulous cheese dip can do:

Shred any leftover holiday meats and fold them into a big bowl of Blazin’ Buffalo dip. Make sure that every last morsel of meat is absolutely drenched in the stuff. Then fill a platter with leftover bread, celery sticks, tortilla chips and other starchy dippers. Put the two dishes on to the table and let everyone dig in as often as they please.

Got leftover cranberry dressing too? Puree the dressing until it’s nice and smooth. Next, stir some into the cheese dip, tasting as you go. Then finish up by using the spread to make a platter full of turkey or ham Paninis. If you don’t have a Panini press, don’t get your winter scarf in a knot. Try grilling the sandwiches on the stove top or using old-fashioned toast instead.

Wondering what to do with leftover cauliflower and other vegetables? Guess what, Blazin’ Buffalo dip can jazz them up too. Just reheat the vegetables and use the cheese dip as a saucy topping or toss the veggies into it. Either way, they’ll be coated with hot, cheesy goodness. So everyone is less apt to complain about eating leftovers again.

And if your assortment of leftovers consists of nothing more than a little of this and a pinch of that, rejoice. Then reach for the refrigerated pizza crust. Pillsbury™ has a fantastic recipe posted online for Buffalo Chicken Cupcakes. They’re not really cupcakes, they just look like them. And the cups are filled with cheese dip and spoonfuls of leftovers. To discover other ways cheese dips can easily turn lame leftovers into something spectacular and mouth-watering, please contact us.

If you grew up in the 80s, there’s a strong likelihood that you remember watching John Hughes movies with your BFFs and rocking out to MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, Friday Night Video Fights and Club MTV. Well, why not round up everyone and relive those glorious, high school days with the best party dips for fall? They’re big on flavor and won’t keep you from sliding back into those spandex pants. Hey, we know that you secretly want to see if they still fit. So pull them out of the closet, call up the girls and let’s get this 80s party started!

The best party dips for fall are clearly Harvest Pumpkin Spice, Big Apple Strudel, Sea Salt Caramel Delight and Sinfully Cin-a-Bun. They’re sweet yet provocative, like Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club. And you won’t need Ilan Mitchell-Smith or Anthony Michael Hall’s computer science equipment to conjure up something good. A few sliced apples and bowls full of the party dips will do just fine.

With that said, consider pairing each of John Hughes’ movies with a different party dip. For example, load up the DVD player with European Vacation and serve Big Apple Strudel with dipping pretzels. Sinfully Cin-a-Bun would be the ideal accompaniment to The Breakfast Club and we can’t think of anything better to serve during a showing of Nate and Hayes than Kokomo Key Lime.

And if the BFFs want more than party dip, never fear. You could serve meat snacks or grilling meats Chicago-style. They’d fit in with films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Planes, Trains and Automobiles. For instance, you could make Chicago meat franks or deep-dish pizza topped with our smoked ham and summer sausage. You pick your party dips to perk up parties, and are, of course, to convince people to eat fresh raw veggies. The problem is that vegetables simply don't hold enough dip to empty out the container by the end of the party. Everyone has scarfed down the cherry tomatoes and carrots, and left the celery, plus half the King Of The Sea Dip. Now personally, I hate to waste food. I would finish off the celery in a chicken salad or fry it up with onions and beef. That, however, leaves the leftover dip. The next party isn't for months and the crackers have disappeared with the guests. What can we do with the dip?

  1. Sandwiches. Who wants boring old mayo and mustard on your hoagie, anyway? Seafood dips are particularly good with lettuce and tomato with rye. Jalapeno party dip could be just the spice to complement your turkey. You can mix and match. The great thing is that you don't need much per sandwich. No matter how little the guests left you, you can still use it.
  2. Chicken salad. Tuna salad goes great with ranch dip or Danish Bleu cheese dip, just to give you a few options to add variety to your salad. Again, the dip works as a substitute for mayonnaise. It can give a spicy tang to any salad. These can be mixed in with mayo if you don't have enough for a salad.
  3. Crust for baked chicken. Cover your chicken in dip and then dredge in bread crumbs for a fast way to jazz up dinner. You don't even need Parmesan cheese. You can make your chicken spicy by using Jalapeno dip or tangy by using Chipotle dip. It is up to you. You do need quite a bit to make good chicken breading, but sometimes a party gets cancelled or guests decide to fill up on cookies. There is no accounting for tastes.

We firmly believe in realizing every food's potential. If you want to help finding new ways to utilize food, contact us. We have everything you need.

Not all party dips have to be savory. It’s perfectly okay to introduce a little sweetness into one’s life and we can’t think of a better way to do it than reaching for a jar of Dulce de Leche Sauce. Dulce de leche sauce has been used throughout Spain and Latin America for centuries. Why even the Mayans took time out from their battles to enjoy a bit of dulce de leche now and again so why shouldn’t you?

How Do You Dulce de Leche?

There are many ways to enjoy it. For instance, you could use our dulce de leche sauce to make bread pudding, sandwich cookies, cheesecake bars and corn panna cotta. It’s also fabulous on breakfast foods like pancakes, waffles and banana crepes. But our most favorite way of eating ducle de leche in the summer is on chocolate pound cake with fresh fruit and our best cheese spreads. It’s perfect for brunch.

Best Brunch Munchie Ever!

To make the summer treat, slice a chocolate pound cake up into even pieces and place them on to a serving platter. Then whip up a spread made from one of our cheese spreads, powdered sugar, Greek yogurt, whipped topping and pure vanilla extract. You’ll need ½ cup of the spread, whipped topping and the yogurt.

Many people use plain whipped topping and Greek yogurt for this recipe but you may want to experiment with other flavor combinations. For example, you could combine our Port Wine Cheese Spread with chocolate whipped cream and banana caramel Greek yogurt. Also, our Swiss Almond Cheese Spread would work well with almond whipped cream.

Either way, put the yogurt, whipped topping and cheese spread of your choice in to a bowl along with ¼ cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to make four servings. Gently stir it all up and use the resulting sweet, cheesy spread to top the slices of chocolate pound cake. Next, add slices of your favorite fruit and drizzle it with our dulce de leche sauce. Afterward, enjoy the fruit and cheese topped pound cake slices with the people you love.
