February is heart-focused for two reasons - one is Valentine’s Day and the other is that it's Heart Health Month. If you’re looking to celebrate both, horseradish products should certainly be on your shopping list. Horseradish is heart healthy and may be incorporated into a thoughtful gift.

What makes horseradish heart healthy? Why it’s the natural, fat-free ingredients! It contains mustard oils, enzymes, vitamin A and vitamin C. According to The Herb Society of America, it is believed to benefit more than just the heart and circulatory system. For example, it is sometimes used to combat minor edema and inflammation.

Health factors aside, horseradish has the potential to elevate romantic meals too. For instance, imagine enjoying a platter with oysters seasoned with a horseradish and bacon sauce. Oysters are also sometimes served on or with horseradish ice, which is easy to make. It involves combining simple syrup, horseradish and vinegar together. Instructions on making the shaved, horseradish flavored ice are readily available on many recipe sites.

Other aphrodisiacs may benefit from a spoonful of horseradish too. Let’s take beets for example. They could be combined with horseradish to create a fabulous borsht. Brussels sprouts, another veggie known to spark desire, taste excellent with horseradish. Just make a horseradish sauce and pour it over your lover’s helping of Brussels sprouts right before presenting the plate.

Clearly, lovers could skip the fancy dinners and choose to give each other bottles of horseradish paired with additional gourmet treats. We’ve got a Horseradish Heaven gift basket that would be phenomenal in that regard. It contains crackers, mustard, dip, pickles, spread, block cheese and of course, horseradish. They’re all packaged in a quaint basket complete with a cheese cleaver.

Let's celebrate this February with heart-healthy horseradish!

Don’t banish the barbecue grill to the shed just yet. Summer may be officially over but that’s no reason to put down the horseradish products and grill aprons. There are still warm afternoons on the horizon and there’s always the trusty stove nearby waiting to pick up the slack. And as for us, we’ve got some cool recipes guaranteed to keep you chillin’:

1.) Marmalade and Horseradish Products

Do you want a sweet sauce with a lot of heat? Try blending equal parts of your favorite marmalade with one of our horseradish products. If the marmalade isn’t sweet enough, add a little more sweetener. Generally, honey, powdered, brown or granulated sugar will do. When you’ve got the perfect blend of sweet and heat, go ahead and use it as a dipping or basting sauce. It goes great with grilled pork, seafood and chicken.

2.) Pie Filling and Horseradish Sauce

Do you love the taste of lemon pie filling? Okay, what about other pie fillings like cherry and apple? Believe it or not, they mix well with horseradish products too. Scrape one cup of your favorite pie filling into a food processor, mixer or blender. Then add the following:

To give it a smooth consistency, add virgin olive or canola oil at the end. A cup of oil or less should take care of it. Afterward, use the modified pie filling as a glaze, dipping or cocktail sauce. It works well with meats and various desserts (e.g. tart fillings).

3.) Salad Dressing and Horseradish Products

Finally, try blending horseradish products with your favorite salad dressings and some honey. It is a great substitute for barbecue sauce. Plus, it works with late season veggies, deviled eggs and salad greens too. The list of good dressings to consider includes, but shouldn’t be limited to French, blue cheese and Italian.

Did you know that July is not only National Grilling Month; it is National Horseradish Month too? So break out the grilling meats and horseradish sauce. It’s time to light a fire in the EZ Disposable Grill and put some sizzle into your life. We’ve got the perfect horseradish marinade and condiment recipes. Just be forewarned. They’re known to spark a round of kisses for the cook, so pucker up and get ready to enjoy one of the best meals of your life:

Horseradish Marinade

To make our National Grilling Month marinade, you’ll need equal amounts of horseradish sauce and Dijon mustard. One tablespoon of each should yield enough to serve four center cut pork chops, NY strip steaks or chicken thighs. Once you’ve got the horseradish and Dijon mustard in the bowl, add two teaspoons of lemon juice and two tablespoons of high smoke point oil to it. Afterward, toss in some salt and pepper to taste before adding the grilling meats to the marinade and popping the bowl into the fridge. Let it remain in the fridge for one to two hours before removing the meats and placing them on to the EZ Disposable Grill.

Horseradish Mustard

If your list of grilling meats includes Polish kielbasa, seasoned bratwurst, jumbo franks or cheddar-jalapeno smoked bratwurst, you’re going to want to douse them with our horseradish mustard. Combine three tablespoons of salad dressing with equal amounts of Dijon mustard and horseradish. Next, mix in two teaspoons of both onion and garlic powder along with a ½ tablespoon of fresh parsley or another herb of your choosing. Once you’re done mixing, the horseradish mustard will be ready to go on to the grilling meats. If you don't want to go through the trouble of making a homemade version try out our horseradish mustard!

Horseradish Mayonnaise

Finally, you might want to swap out the plain mayonnaise for one infused with horseradish, sour cream and Dijon mustard. It’s great as a cold salad base and you can use it as a burger topping or veggie dip too. Simply combine 1/3 cup of unflavored or flavored sour cream with the horseradish mustard we mentioned above and that’s it. It’s dinner time!
