Spring is nearly here, and your calendar is probably already filling up with engagement parties, bridal showers, and weddings. Maybe you’re even planning one of your own! Whatever your reason for celebrating love this spring, if you’re in charge of preparing or planning the food, you’ll need to not only consider taste but also aesthetics. Treats that are both beautiful and delicious please the palate and add that extra touch of elegance and style to any party.

Not sure where to start? Check out these perfect party dip hacks! We promise they’re “berry” good.

Terrific Tarts

For starters, skip the standard onion and guacamole dips. Go for the White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl and the Heaven Sake Cheesecake party dips instead. The premixed flavor packets are meant to be combined with whipped topping and cream cheese, but there’s no reason not to deviate from the norm. For example, why not buy mini tart shells, fresh mint, dark chocolate, and berries too?

Readymade mini tart shells are often available for purchase in the freezer or refrigerated display cases of most major grocery stores. If your store is all sold out of the ready-made tart shells, don’t stress. The shells are surprisingly easy to make. They require the following pantry staples:

  • ¼ Cup Vegetable Shortening (Chilled)
  • 1/3 Cup Butter (Cubed)
  • 1.75 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tbsp. Granulated Sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. Ice Cold Water

The tart shell ingredients should be combined just like any other pie crust. As such, everything but the water should go into a food processor and get run through the coarse or pulse setting. Afterward, the water should be added a little at a time until the mini tart dough can be easily rolled up into small balls.

Once the tart dough has been shaped into small balls, you’ll need to roll each one out. Next, place them into their respective, greased tart pans and bake them for 20 to 30 minutes in a 375-degree oven. Ideally, the oven should be preheated for 10 to 15 minutes before sliding the tart pan onto the center shelf. However, some ovens may take longer to come to the right temperature.

Allow the cooked tart shells to cool. To continue, use a pastry bag to pipe the party dip into the mini-tart shells. Be careful not to overfill the bag because the warmth of a person’s hand has the potential to heat up the dip. And if the dip is partially chilled, it will hold the shape of the pastry bag tip longer.

Afterward, add shaved chocolate, berries, and fresh mint to complete the presentation. They’ll make excellent engagement party or bridal shower desserts. And if you’re having the party outside, we’ve got another berry good hack you may want to try. It involves candy molds and the freezer.

A Cool Party Dip Alternative

Instead of piping the party dip into the mini tart shells, fill cute little candy molds instead. Then place them into the freezer 24 to 48 hours before the engagement or bridal shower is expected to begin. Depending on the freezer’s temperature, the dip should harden and take on the shape of their molds.

Before the guests arrive, pop the frozen party dip sculptures out of the molds. Use them to create little appetizer or dessert plates. If you’re going with the appetizers, plate the frozen dip with freshly sliced fruits and decorative swirls of yogurt.

If desserts are the engagement party or bridal shower order of the day, grab some sliced pound or sponge cake. Place the sliced cake onto individual plates and dust them with powdered sugar, then use the frozen party dip molds as the pièce de résistance. Put one on top of each cake and serve. As the dip melts, it will combine with the cake and taste amazing.

Spice Up Your Dad's Life!

Does your dad love spicy food? Our Beat the Heat Habanero Mix is our hottest dip yet! Add it to chili or taco meat as the seasoning, sprinkle it on steak, or mix it with ground beef to give burgers some extra heat.

Another great way to use this seasoning is to make it into a dip for raw vegetables, chips, bread, or crackers. For something a little less spicy choose our Jumpin' Hot Jalapeno Mix, which is one notch below Beat the Heat. Here's a tasty recipe to try:

Spicy Roasted Red Pepper Cream Cheese Dip

  • 1 jar roasted red peppers, drained
  • 1 package Beat the Heat Habanero Mix or Jumpin' Hot Jalapeno Mix
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened

Mix all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth.

Serve with an assortment of bread, crackers, raw veggies, or tortilla chips.

Note: Those who are sensitive to dairy products can make this dip with soft goat cheese.

Holy Guacamole!

Guacamole is a wonderful way to get some healthy fats into your diet. Our Gringo Guacamole Dip Mix makes some seriously tasty guacamole. It can be mixed up per the package directions, or you can try this delicious recipe:

Gringo Guacamole

2 ripe avocado, mashed

2 tsp lemon or lime juice

1 package Gringo Guacamole - A Spice Above Dip Mix

1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

1 medium tomato, chopped

Mash avocado. Add lemon or lime juice and mix. Stir in Gringo Guacamole seasoning, sour cream or Greek yogurt, and chopped tomato. Chill 1-2 hours and serve with tortilla chips, raw veggies, or as a topping for nachos or tacos. You can even use this amazing guacamole in a 7-layer Mexican dip!

Note: Those who are sensitive to dairy can make this guacamole with goat yogurt.

Stuffed Artichokes

If your dad loves artichoke spinach dip, he'll love our Stuffed Artichoke Dip. It's our #1 best seller! Just mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup sour cream and chill. A great way to serve this dip is with warm Hawaiian bread or slices of a French Baguette.

Dessert, Dessert!

Who can forget dessert? Chocolate lovers will rave over this easy to make Chocolate Lover's Dream Pie. The directions on the package explain the simple filling that includes cream cheese and whipped topping. You and your dad can either buy a crust or make your own.

Making a pie crust for a recipe like this is a lot of fun, and kids will have a blast mashing up the graham crackers or whatever is used to make the crust. To mash up graham crackers, put them in a Ziploc bag and roll over them with a rolling pin or a jar of pasta sauce until they turn into crumbs.

If you'd like to add more chocolate to your pie, this recipe for an Oreo Cookie Pie Crust only contains 2 ingredients and goes together in a snap.

Other pie flavors your dad may enjoy making include Sea Salt Caramel Delight Pie, Sinfully Cin-a-Bun Pie, and White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Pie, as well as many others. Each of these mixes can also be made into dips and served with fruit, cookies, graham crackers, or biscotti.

A New Year's Eve party isn't complete without exciting food to munch on. Here are three ideas for tasty treats and party dips for your late-night shindig.

Vegetable Tray - A vegetable tray is a party classic. It is perfect for those watching their weight or who have allergies. Make the tray visually appealing by arranging the vegetables in a design or pattern. Another way to spice up your tray is with a dip. Forget your boring, normal dip and try our Hearty Cheddar Bacon Dip or our Gringo Guacamole Dip. You'll love the fun flavors and exciting combinations.

Brownie Bites - When it comes to a party, finger foods are the best. This is true even in deserts. Brownie bites are a great option. You get the brownie that everyone loves, but in a convenient finger food. They also go great with different desert dips. Brownies pair well with our White Chocolate Raspberry Dip and our Sea Salt Caramel Dip.

Graham Crackers - For those who like deserts that are a little less sweet, graham crackers are a perfect choice. They are delicious and crunchy, but also pair well with other items. The Sinfully Cin-a-Bun Dip gives the graham crackers a classic cinnamon twist, while the Heaven Sake Cheesecake Dip makes a lovely graham cracker treat.

Whether you are expecting a house full of people or a quiet night with a few friends, These foods are a great addition to any party.

If you grew up in the 80s, there’s a strong likelihood that you remember watching John Hughes movies with your BFFs and rocking out to MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, Friday Night Video Fights and Club MTV. Well, why not round up everyone and relive those glorious, high school days with the best party dips for fall? They’re big on flavor and won’t keep you from sliding back into those spandex pants. Hey, we know that you secretly want to see if they still fit. So pull them out of the closet, call up the girls and let’s get this 80s party started!

The best party dips for fall are clearly Harvest Pumpkin Spice, Big Apple Strudel, Sea Salt Caramel Delight and Sinfully Cin-a-Bun. They’re sweet yet provocative, like Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club. And you won’t need Ilan Mitchell-Smith or Anthony Michael Hall’s computer science equipment to conjure up something good. A few sliced apples and bowls full of the party dips will do just fine.

With that said, consider pairing each of John Hughes’ movies with a different party dip. For example, load up the DVD player with European Vacation and serve Big Apple Strudel with dipping pretzels. Sinfully Cin-a-Bun would be the ideal accompaniment to The Breakfast Club and we can’t think of anything better to serve during a showing of Nate and Hayes than Kokomo Key Lime.

And if the BFFs want more than party dip, never fear. You could serve meat snacks or grilling meats Chicago-style. They’d fit in with films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Planes, Trains and Automobiles. For instance, you could make Chicago meat franks or deep-dish pizza topped with our smoked ham and summer sausage.
