Getting ready to watch the big game with the guys, or having family and friends over for a special gathering? You're going to need snacks! Don't offer those old, tired cheese dips you've been serving to everyone for years. Put out a dip with some kick to it—creamy, spicy, fresh, and unforgettable.

Okay, I know you're skeptical. But if your taste buds love heat, we've got the perfect cheese dip recipe for you. We're not going to use any thin, processed cheese to make this dip. Blah! We're going to use a specialty cheddar cheese. Because as they say, "Cheddar is always better."

You won't need many ingredients, and you should already have in your home all of the utensils that you'll require. Preparation is fast and easy, and the results will have everyone clamoring for more!

Ingredients

You'll need one large mixing bowl; make sure it fits into your microwave. Find any cheese slicer that you have around. You'll also need a colander. Grab a large spoon. Just something to stir with. You'll need some sort of cling wrap or plastic lid, and some pot rags or oven mitts, so you don't burn your hands.

How to Prepare

First, slice the cheese. Super thin slices aren't necessary. It will still melt just fine. Once done, toss those pieces into the bowl. Empty the can of chili right on top. Take the jar of jalapeños and dump the contents into your colander to drain off the juice. Make sure you put the colander in the sink first or you'll have a mess.

If you don't want as much heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeños. Once the juice has drained, drop the jalapeños into the bowl. Mix everything together the best that you can (we'll do more mixing later, so don't sweat it too much).

Now, place the cling wrap or lid on top of the bowl, so it doesn't explode all over the inside of your microwave. Leave a small area on one side of the bowl uncovered, just enough to let it breathe.

Cooking Instructions

Place the bowl in the microwave and set it for 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, take it out using oven mitts (this bowl will get hot), and peel back the cling wrap. Watch out for any hot steam that escapes, then stir. Re-cover and place the bowl back into the microwave for another 4 minutes. Remove and again stir.

Then, back in it goes for another 4 minutes. Stir and check the consistency. If you want your dip chunky, it's probably about perfect now. If you prefer a thinner dip, then it might need a few more minutes of in and out. Don't forget to stir each time.

Finalizing

After the cheese dip is the consistency that you want, give it a taste. Ah, delicious! If it's not spicy enough, add 4-5 shakes of the Chicago Hit Sauce. Stir it in and taste again. If it's still not hot enough, you were probably a fire-breathing dragon in a former life! But go for it and add some more, until it's perfect.

This recipe will make approximately 8 servings. Once you've divided it up, set out the serving bowls along with your favorite tortilla chips and enjoy!

You might also want to keep a gallon of ice cream on hand for any guests who can't handle the burn but wanted to give it a try anyway. For your family and friends who do love the burn, they'll beg you for this recipe!

They have the ability to transform Scrooges into giddy children and casual acquaintances into good friends. But that’s providing the cheese and sausage gift baskets have what it takes to delight recipients’ taste buds.

For unabashed carnivores, there is nothing better than a sturdy basket full of premium meats. So we’ve designed our Sausage Champion baskets with them in mind. Don’t torture friends and family with leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches. There are so many better ways to get rid of leftovers, especially when cheese dips are in the house. A Spice Above’s Blazin’ Buffalo Dip is one of our personal favorites to use with holiday leftovers. Sold in one ounce packages, it’s made with cayenne peppers, paprika, garlic, hot sauce, butter, vinegar and more. Here’s what this fabulous cheese dip can do:

Shred any leftover holiday meats and fold them into a big bowl of Blazin’ Buffalo dip. Make sure that every last morsel of meat is absolutely drenched in the stuff. Then fill a platter with leftover bread, celery sticks, tortilla chips and other starchy dippers. Put the two dishes on to the table and let everyone dig in as often as they please.

Got leftover cranberry dressing too? Puree the dressing until it’s nice and smooth. Next, stir some into the cheese dip, tasting as you go. Then finish up by using the spread to make a platter full of turkey or ham Paninis. If you don’t have a Panini press, don’t get your winter scarf in a knot. Try grilling the sandwiches on the stove top or using old-fashioned toast instead.

Wondering what to do with leftover cauliflower and other vegetables? Guess what, Blazin’ Buffalo dip can jazz them up too. Just reheat the vegetables and use the cheese dip as a saucy topping or toss the veggies into it. Either way, they’ll be coated with hot, cheesy goodness. So everyone is less apt to complain about eating leftovers again.

And if your assortment of leftovers consists of nothing more than a little of this and a pinch of that, rejoice. Then reach for the refrigerated pizza crust. Pillsbury™ has a fantastic recipe posted online for Buffalo Chicken Cupcakes. They’re not really cupcakes, they just look like them. And the cups are filled with cheese dip and spoonfuls of leftovers. To discover other ways cheese dips can easily turn lame leftovers into something spectacular and mouth-watering, please contact us.

Although you might have gifted plenty of meat and cheese gift baskets in the past, you might have never thought about purchasing them for yourself. However, it's a good idea to buy a few nice gift baskets from Deli Direct and keep them on hand during the upcoming holiday season. These are a few reasons why you won't regret it if you do.

Be Prepared for Impromptu Guests

First of all, the holiday season is always a season of visiting and spending time with loved ones. This means that you might find yourself throwing together an impromptu get-together, or you might find friends or family members knocking on your door when you least expect it. Although you might like being able to offer your guests a nice snack when they come over, you probably aren't always prepared to do so.

If you have a meat and cheese gift basket on hand, however, you can open it up and put the offerings on a nice plate or platter. Since these gift baskets often come with nice cheese, sliced meat, crackers and more, you will have everything you need to offer your guests something tasty.

Always Have a Potential Gift on Hand

You never know when you might be invited to an unexpected party or when you might need an extra gift for someone on your list. Since meat and cheese gift baskets make great gifts for just about anyone, it's a good idea to keep a few on hand, just in case.

As you can see, it's always smart to keep a few of these nice gift baskets on hand during the winter months. If you contact us at Deli Direct, we can help you choose the right gift baskets for your needs.

You pick your party dips to perk up parties, and are, of course, to convince people to eat fresh raw veggies. The problem is that vegetables simply don't hold enough dip to empty out the container by the end of the party. Everyone has scarfed down the cherry tomatoes and carrots, and left the celery, plus half the King Of The Sea Dip. Now personally, I hate to waste food. I would finish off the celery in a chicken salad or fry it up with onions and beef. That, however, leaves the leftover dip. The next party isn't for months and the crackers have disappeared with the guests. What can we do with the dip?

  1. Sandwiches. Who wants boring old mayo and mustard on your hoagie, anyway? Seafood dips are particularly good with lettuce and tomato with rye. Jalapeno party dip could be just the spice to complement your turkey. You can mix and match. The great thing is that you don't need much per sandwich. No matter how little the guests left you, you can still use it.
  2. Chicken salad. Tuna salad goes great with ranch dip or Danish Bleu cheese dip, just to give you a few options to add variety to your salad. Again, the dip works as a substitute for mayonnaise. It can give a spicy tang to any salad. These can be mixed in with mayo if you don't have enough for a salad.
  3. Crust for baked chicken. Cover your chicken in dip and then dredge in bread crumbs for a fast way to jazz up dinner. You don't even need Parmesan cheese. You can make your chicken spicy by using Jalapeno dip or tangy by using Chipotle dip. It is up to you. You do need quite a bit to make good chicken breading, but sometimes a party gets cancelled or guests decide to fill up on cookies. There is no accounting for tastes.

We firmly believe in realizing every food's potential. If you want to help finding new ways to utilize food, contact us. We have everything you need.

On rare occasions, people who serve our stuffed artichoke cheese dips at parties have some leftover. If you ever find yourself in that situation, don’t panic. There is actually a lot that can be done to convert leftover dips into fantastic, new meals. So pop that bowl of stuffed artichoke dip into the fridge for now and take a look at some of the great options there are to choose from:

Cheese Dip Soup

This first meal idea works perfectly with more than just our stuffed artichoke cheese dip. Simply scrap the leftovers into a saucepan or microwave safe bowl. Then add two cups of consommé and pureed cannellini beans to the pot. Only use enough puree to give the soup the consistency that your family will love. Stir it all together and when it’s hot enough for you, go ahead and serve it with a bug hunk of crusty bread.

Cheese Dip and Grains Bake

Don’t want to make cheese dip soup? No problem! Simply cook quinoa, rice or another one of your family’s favorite grains. Next, butter the inside of a baking dish. Mix the grains of your choice with the leftover dip and use it to fill the baking dish. Cover the top of the dip and grain mixture with some seasoned bread crumbs. Then heat the dish until the cheese dip is nice and melted. It makes a super main meal or side dish.

Cheese Dip and Potatoes

Leftover cheese dip tastes amazing in mashed, au gratin and baked potatoes too. Just drop it on top of the baked potatoes or stir it into the mash. As for the au gratin, use the dip in place of the tasteless mess that comes with the boxed mixes or gently stir it into your own creation. And if you’re feeling inspired, go ahead and use up any other party leftovers as toppings too.

No matter their age, they are still our babies and we worry about them when they enter college. We wonder, “Will they make friends?” and “Are they eating enough?” Now there is a way to ensure that they’re doing both. It starts with choosing cheese and sausage gift baskets. Traditionally filled with enough food for more than one, they make excellent going away presents. This is especially true for college kids that plan on rooming with strangers.

Go Back to Cool and Classic

Let’s take our Gourmet Deli Classic Treasures basket as an example. It holds six pounds of meat and more than two pounds of cheese. Plus, there are additional items included, like cookies, chocolates, condiments and wasabi peas. So there is enough gourmet, snack food for our babies and the people who will hopefully become their new friends.

Furthermore, the kids can use the accompanying wicker basket, cutting board and cleaver in their dorm room or off campus apartment for other things. For instance, they may want to toss their keys, mail, student IDs or notes in the basket after all of the cheese and sausage is gone.

As for the cleaver and cutting board, it’s perfect for divvying up other snacks or a quick meal. The kids can clean them up afterwards and tuck them inside of their desks, night stands or allotted bookshelf space. Of course they could put them in the wicker basket too.

Variety without the Cutting Edge

Don’t want to give them a cleaver for the dorm? No worries there. We’ve got cheese and sausage gift baskets that are devoid of sharp-edged cutlery. One that tends to perfect for kids is the Special Variety Pack. It still has enough meats and cheeses for a small gathering of students as well as a cutting board. However, knives and cleavers are not included.

Let’s face it. It’s summer and sometimes it is just too doggone hot outside to cook a big meal. The next time that “I don’t want to turn on the stove” feeling washes over you, reach for the meat snacks, Wisconsin cheese, diced tomatoes and mushrooms. We’ve got a quick, easy and earthy recipe that you won't want to miss:

Choose a Meat Snack

Start by going through our online offerings and choosing the right smoked meat snacks or beef summer sausages for your family’s palate. Many folks we know love to go with the Smoked Pepperoni Curls & Sticks. Chop or slice up your selection and combine it with some diced tomatoes. Add salt and pepper to taste before reaching for the Wisconsin specialty cheeses.

Pick a Wisconsin Specialty Cheese

Shred the Wisconsin specialty cheeses and place them into a big bowl. Next, wash the mushrooms and remove the stems. Prepare an open-top, vegetable basket for the grill or choose a non-stick one. When you’re ready, place the mushroom caps, depression side up, in to the grill basket. Then carefully fill each one with a mixture of diced meat snacks, tomatoes and shredded cheeses from Wisconsin.

Achieve Grilling Perfection

Turn the grill on and let it reach anywhere from 350 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it reaches temp, place the prefilled grill basket on to the grates and let the meat snacks cook for roughly 10 minutes. Afterward, remove the grill basket from the grates and grab a flexible, metal spatula or a pair of tongs. Carefully remove the hot, stuffed mushrooms from the grill basket and place them on to a lovely serving tray.

Serve with a Robust Red

Serve them with a great bottle of wine. Reds like syrah, burgundy, sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon make excellent choices. The same may be said for champagne and dry Rieslings. We promise, you’ll love the way our grilled mushroom and meat snacks taste no matter which beverage you choose. Not all party dips have to be savory. It’s perfectly okay to introduce a little sweetness into one’s life and we can’t think of a better way to do it than reaching for a jar of Dulce de Leche Sauce. Dulce de leche sauce has been used throughout Spain and Latin America for centuries. Why even the Mayans took time out from their battles to enjoy a bit of dulce de leche now and again so why shouldn’t you?

How Do You Dulce de Leche?

There are many ways to enjoy it. For instance, you could use our dulce de leche sauce to make bread pudding, sandwich cookies, cheesecake bars and corn panna cotta. It’s also fabulous on breakfast foods like pancakes, waffles and banana crepes. But our most favorite way of eating ducle de leche in the summer is on chocolate pound cake with fresh fruit and our best cheese spreads. It’s perfect for brunch.

Best Brunch Munchie Ever!

To make the summer treat, slice a chocolate pound cake up into even pieces and place them on to a serving platter. Then whip up a spread made from one of our cheese spreads, powdered sugar, Greek yogurt, whipped topping and pure vanilla extract. You’ll need ½ cup of the spread, whipped topping and the yogurt.

Many people use plain whipped topping and Greek yogurt for this recipe but you may want to experiment with other flavor combinations. For example, you could combine our Port Wine Cheese Spread with chocolate whipped cream and banana caramel Greek yogurt. Also, our Swiss Almond Cheese Spread would work well with almond whipped cream.

Either way, put the yogurt, whipped topping and cheese spread of your choice in to a bowl along with ¼ cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to make four servings. Gently stir it all up and use the resulting sweet, cheesy spread to top the slices of chocolate pound cake. Next, add slices of your favorite fruit and drizzle it with our dulce de leche sauce. Afterward, enjoy the fruit and cheese topped pound cake slices with the people you love.
