Moms are accustomed to getting certain gifts on Mother’s Day. There are the perfunctory poises, perfumes, macaroni necklaces and flowery hats. They’re great but what about moms who don’t fit the traditional mold and those that may want a change from the ordinary? For them, we’d suggest buying meat and cheese gift baskets. They’re a great way to say “I Love You”, especially to moms who appreciate having gourmet snacks on hand during their moments of alone time. We’ve got several themed baskets to choose from, including the following:

Lucky Mom Gift Basket

Our Lucky Mom Gift Basket is jam-packed with candies, cookies, crackers, dips, meats and cheese spreads. So, you’ll definitely have all of the basics covered. And for an extra touch, tell mom that you’ll whip up a special snack for her using some of the items included in the basic. Take a bag of pita chips and spread them out on to a baking dish. Then slice and dice our Deli Direct Smoked Ham Roll into pieces. Cover the pita chips with one of the cheese spreads included in the basket and top them with the diced ham. Next, heat it up in the oven for a few minutes. Once the cheese is nice and warm, put the loaded pita chips on to a plate and present them to mom. Presto! An instant Favorite Kid Award is likely on the way.

Happy Mom Gift Basket

If your mom could use a great cutting board and cleaver, buy our Happy Mom Gift Basket instead. It includes those two things along with white chocolate mint buttons, assorted dips, cheese spreads, crackers, cookie snaps, honey glaze and summer sausages. While you’re at it, use the cheese spreads, summer sausages and Bisquick™ to make mom some freshly baked sausage balls. Then serve them with a few of the dips that came with the gift basket. A Spice Above Tuscan Tomato Basil Dip should complement the baked sausage and cheese balls perfectly.

Mothers Day began here in the good ole U.S. of A in the early 20th century. Yes, it is true that it has been adopted by the “Hallmark” industry for you to buy flowers and candy for your mother, but you know what? Who cares! Your mother loves you! She made sure your stomachs were full and you were well dressed, drove you all over town and gave you money to go do mindless things with your friends. So they are just the best and Mother’s Day is important. Take these helpful tips to make sure the moms in your life know how loved they are.

Do treat her nicely from the second she wakes up. A couple great ideas would be to let her sleep in and making her breakfast. Breakfast in bed is preferable! Some delicious coffee and a warm bagel with some delicious Garden Vegetable Cheese Spread on top would be good. If she likes a hearty breakfast, make one with eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes and so on. It would add an extra special touch to get the kids to help out!

Don't forget to clean up the kitchen after that delicious breakfast! She really doesn’t want to be surprised with that lovely thought only to be disappointed when she walks into the kitchen.

Do what she wants. Make sure to actually listen to her. If she wants to spend the day with her family, do that. If she wants to have the day to herself, do that. The point is to make sure you do what she wants. It’s only one day!

Don't forget about your own mother. Possibly get the children out of your wife’s hair and have them spend the day with grandma. Or maybe make time to have lunch with her. At the least make sure she has flowers and a card waiting for her!

Do buy flowers and a card. It may seem trivial but it is necessary. Writing something extra in the card will go a very long way and you will be on good standing for the rest of the day. You don’t have to by an extravagant gift but do not buy her something “practical.” She does not want, nor will she appreciate a new broom or pan. Try and pay attention to her ahead of time so you can get her something that she actually wants and will enjoy!

Don't under no circumstances give her cash! A gift card to her favorite spa is a good idea, but hard cold cash is one of the worst.

With these dos and don’ts you will be on the right track to delivering the best Mother’s Day she could want!

Making brunch for the special woman in your life on Mother’s Day is a kind, simple gesture that won’t soon be forgotten. While you might consider going out so that you don’t have to cook, a relaxing meal at home is often the best way to start the day, especially for women that are used to the routine of getting up in the morning to rush the kids off to school, get to work or take care of family matters around the house.

When it comes to brunch, few items are more synonymous with the meal than eggs benedict, a classic, mildly decadent dish that almost everybody loves. Making it isn’t that difficult either, if you have basic cooking skills already. Below, you’ll find an easy-to-follow recipe for eggs benedict perfect for that special Mother’s Day.

Eggs Benedict (Makes one serving)

Ingredients:

· 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, more for buttering English muffin

· 2 egg yolks

· 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

· 1/4 teaspoon salt

· Dash cayenne pepper

· 2 pieces Deli Direct Canadian style bacon

· 1 teaspoon white vinegar

· 2 eggs

· English muffin

· Lemon slice, for garnish, optional

Tools:

· Blender

· Medium skillet

· Large saucepan

· Ramekin

· Slotted spoon

· Toaster or broiler

· Warm plate

· Small saucepan

Step 1:

Prepare the hollandaise sauce. To make a simple hollandaise sauce, combine the butter, egg yolks, lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon salt and a dash of cayenne pepper in a blender. Process on low until smooth.

Step 2:

Fry the Canadian style bacon in a medium skillet over low heat. The this will take about 5 minutes on each side to cook.

Step 3:

Fill a large saucepan with 1/2 cup cool water and add 2 teaspoons white vinegar. Bring the water to the boil before reducing the heat to low, allowing the water to simmer.

Step 4:

Place one egg at a time into a ramekin and very carefully lower the egg into the simmer water. Nudge the white closer to the egg yolk. Repeat for the other egg.

Step 5:

Turn the heat off under the eggs and cover the saucepan. Allow the eggs to remain in the water for about five minutes before removing them carefully with a slotted spoon.

Step 6:

Lightly toast an English muffin under the broiler or in the toaster. Butter the English muffin to taste and put it on warm plate.

Step 7:

Place one piece of the Canadian style bacon on each side of the buttered English muffin. Top each half of the English muffin with a poached egg.

Step 8:

Gently heat the hollandaise sauce in a small saucepan until warm. Top the English muffins with the hollandaise sauce and serve the eggs benedict immediately while hot with a fresh lemon slice if desired.
