Whether you are a competitive sports observer or a competitive eater, Superbowl Sunday has something for everyone.  Deli Direct has a few football themed tips to help you score a touchdown with your Superbowl Sunday participation.

Don't get intercepted at a busy store! Most stores get extra crowded selling chips and generic cheese dip right before Superbowl Sunday.  Save yourself the hassle by having it delivered. When the price is comparable to the big stores and the quality exceeds what you can purchase on those shelves, buy it online!

Kickoff your party with flavorful sauces, salsas, and horseradish products! Your guests will love the kick of heat along side their beer as they watch the game (or hover protectively over the snack table).

If you aren't hosting a party, don't fumble the host gift! Take the effort out of gift buying with one of many cheese and sausage gift baskets options. Your host will be surprised and delighted by your gift and you might even get to share some of the delightful treats if they add it to their spread. Now that's winning!

Score a field goal with fun dessert dips! While chip dips are expected, dessert dips add excitement to the game.  Try them with strawberries, grapes or graham crackers. Your competitive eaters will appreciate it and definitely score you an extra three points.

Whatever your Superbowl Sunday plans, score a safety by planning ahead, ordering high quality, american made products like cheese, sausages and dips from company that makes ordering online simple. Contact us here to place an order today!

What do you do with a man who has more than enough cologne and neckties? Should you get him fancy cufflinks that he’ll probably never wear or a smoking jacket that will most likely never make it off of the bathroom hook? Nah, why not take a page out of grandma’s book of proverbs instead? She always said that the way to win a fella’s heart was with something tasty.

If an apron is the last thing you want to put on, don’t worry. Meat and cheese gift baskets can come to the rescue! They’ll give any man a tasty treat he’ll long remember and you won’t have to get your hands or clothes dirty in the process. Simply look, point and click on the perfect meat and cheese gift basket for Mr. Wonderful. Then wait for it to be delivered and hand it over to him with a smile. Shazam! Your gift giving problem solved.

And what if your man isn’t a fan of meat and cheese gift baskets? Hey, it happens from time to time because not every guy on the planet is a carnivore. For the vegans and vegetarians among us, we’d suggest creating custom baskets overflowing with martini olives, fruits, hot sauce, horseradish and Chubby Cheeks. Oh, and we can’t forget about the wasabi peas, party dips, sweet heat salsa and any number of other deli goodies.

What’s that you say? What about those new boyfriends, coworkers and others who may feel funny about receiving gigantic baskets of treats from the ladies in their lives?  Well, you could scale back and make stocking stuffer size gifts out of treats like garam marsala stoneground mustard and beef sticks. They just big enough to say, “Hey, I’m thinking about you”, without making them worry that you’re ready to sit down and plan a wedding.

Okay, so let's be real, who doesn't love cheese? The taste, the color, the way it melts perfectly. Cheese is definitely a favorite of many food loving citizens in the world. That is why we endlessly try to find ways to incorporate the delicious delicacy that cheese is into any meal we can possibly imagine. Macaroni and cheese, cheese toast, cheese sticks, nacho cheese sauce; adding cheese just makes any food better. I mean, maybe even cheese on cheese would be worth trying.

One way that is terrific for incorporating a variety of cheeses into one gathering, without making it look like you are a cheese obsessed maniac, is to have several different types of cheese spreads. There are so many options available in terms of cheese that is in spreadable form. Perhaps you could try Asiago Cheese Spread, Blue Cheese Spread, Cheddar Cheese Spread, or pretty much any variety of cheese spread you can think of. Having these spreads coupled with various types of bread and crackers at your gathering gives the illusion that you just love the idea of having simple finger foods for your guests to enjoy. All the while you get to bask in the deliciousness of an unending variety of cheese. That seems like a win-win!

So go ahead, get some cheese spreads, line the party table with 5 - 10 different kinds and watch your guests enjoy the brunch, potluck, birthday party, or other occasion. They're sure to be a hit!

If you would like to place an order for a cheese spread for yourself, be sure to contact us today!

It never fails. The temperature zooms to over one hundred, and you have to make supper for the family. The air conditioning unit can only handle so much and it’s too hot for you to handle much more! It’s time to decide whether to call out for pizza and wings or think of something a little cooler. Then your eye falls on your Deli Direct Deli Classic meat and cheese gift basket. Walking to the fridge, you open it to see how you can combine its contents with the goodies in the gift basket. Grab some skewers, something to use for marinade (we suggest olive oil or Italian salad dressing) and all the fresh veggies you've got. Have we got some cool ideas for you (pun intended)!

Caesar Surfer

For this recipe, you’ll need:

  • Romaine lettuce with leaves separated
  • Diced tomatoes, cucumber and stuffed olives from your Deli Classic gift basket
  • Diced meats and cheeses

Combine all ingredients and drizzle with classic Caesar salad dressing. Finally finish off with Gourmet Chocolates from your Deli Classic gift basket!

Skewer Fun

Ingredients:

Thread the ingredients onto the skewer. Fold the spinach leaves until they’re the size of the other ingredients. Marinate in a Pyrex dish using the olive oil and a little basil or Italian salad dressing for two to three hours.

Of course, you can always just chunk everything in the fridge into a gigantuous bowl and make a rocking salad. A different meal idea would include flour tortillas, your choice of Deli Direct cheese spreads, a little lettuce, a few chunks of summer sausage, diced tomatoes and strips of red onion for a new twist on a wrap. However you choose to beat the heat, we have the best quality meats, cheeses, pickles, olives, spreads and sweets. Just contact us when the heat is too much for you to stay in the kitchen.

Let’s face it. It’s summer and sometimes it is just too doggone hot outside to cook a big meal. The next time that “I don’t want to turn on the stove” feeling washes over you, reach for the meat snacks, Wisconsin cheese, diced tomatoes and mushrooms. We’ve got a quick, easy and earthy recipe that you won't want to miss:

Choose a Meat Snack

Start by going through our online offerings and choosing the right smoked meat snacks or beef summer sausages for your family’s palate. Many folks we know love to go with the Smoked Pepperoni Curls & Sticks. Chop or slice up your selection and combine it with some diced tomatoes. Add salt and pepper to taste before reaching for the Wisconsin specialty cheeses.

Pick a Wisconsin Specialty Cheese

Shred the Wisconsin specialty cheeses and place them into a big bowl. Next, wash the mushrooms and remove the stems. Prepare an open-top, vegetable basket for the grill or choose a non-stick one. When you’re ready, place the mushroom caps, depression side up, in to the grill basket. Then carefully fill each one with a mixture of diced meat snacks, tomatoes and shredded cheeses from Wisconsin.

Achieve Grilling Perfection

Turn the grill on and let it reach anywhere from 350 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it reaches temp, place the prefilled grill basket on to the grates and let the meat snacks cook for roughly 10 minutes. Afterward, remove the grill basket from the grates and grab a flexible, metal spatula or a pair of tongs. Carefully remove the hot, stuffed mushrooms from the grill basket and place them on to a lovely serving tray.

Serve with a Robust Red

Serve them with a great bottle of wine. Reds like syrah, burgundy, sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon make excellent choices. The same may be said for champagne and dry Rieslings. We promise, you’ll love the way our grilled mushroom and meat snacks taste no matter which beverage you choose. April is one of our favorite times to kick back and celebrate for one simple reason. It’s National Grilled Cheese Month and who doesn’t love to find a great, hot and gooey sandwich on the menu? We don’t know of anyone that would kick such a great lunch to the curb, do you? Especially when there are so many fantastic cheese blocks, cheese spreads and dips available to delight the senses. Here are a few fun ideas to get the cheese fest started:

Aged Alpine Asiago Dip

There’s nothing that says you can’t celebrate National Grilled Cheese Month with a twist. So, whip up some Aged-Alpine Asiago Dip and slather it on garlic toast points. Then top the toast points with grilled tomato slices and enjoy a Tuscan-style meal on the go or a leisurely wine and craft beer tasting session with friends. Oh, and by the way, the dip would also pair well with roasted bell peppers, avocados and fresh fruit spreads.

No-Fuss Cheese Fondue

Since we’re talking about being a bit unconventional, we’ve got another idea you may want to try. It’s a fun way to celebrate the holiday in fuss-free, gourmet style. Simply take one of our fantastic cheese spreads and heat it up in a microwave-safe dish. Next, set out a variety of bread sticks and let people dip them into the hot cheese. You can pass it off as a deconstructed grilled cheese sandwich or a no-fuss fondue. And if you’re worried about double dippers, simply give everyone their own bowl of melted cheese spread.

Flavored Cheese Blocks

Lastly, let’s not forget about traditional grilled cheese offerings. You could make yours with a slice of cheddar or something unexpected. Good choices that will undoubtedly send shock waves through everyone’s palate are hot pepper, horseradish, onion and garlic cheese. Make the slices as thick or as thin as you like and grill them up when you’re ready. Oh, and don’t forget to include cheese block offerings for the less adventurous members of your bunch too.

To grab all the cheese blocks, spreads and dips you need to make National Grilled Cheese Month menus complete, please contact us at Deli Direct today.

It’s almost time to dust off your picnic blankets and head to the park in search of the perfect place for a romantic, afternoon repast. So, we wanted to share some of our best spring picnicking tips in the weeks ahead, starting with how to pair cheese gift baskets with wines. Let’s start with our For Cheese Lovers Only gift basket and spread out from there.

Our For Cheese Lovers Only gift basket contains all the essentials couples need to enjoy a quick snack under a shade tree. It comes with your choice of cheese spread and cheese block flavors. So, since we can’t be sure which cheese flavors you’ll choose, we’re serving up a few general wine pairing tips:

If you plan on selecting spicy cheeses, like our hot pepper or habanero, go with a bottle of off-dry, white wine. They seem to compliment spicy varieties of cheese perfectly. For Danish blue cheeses, try serving dessert wines or a great bottle of port. And as for the assorted cheddar cheeses, give a cabernet sauvignon or oak-barrel aged chardonnay some consideration.

We’ve also got other gift items like the Ham and Cheese Masterpiece, Cabela’s Gourmet All-Occasion Snack Basket, Rat Pack, Incredible Party Favorites and Happy Mom Basket as well as ones that include fruits and sweets. If you choose one of them, try pairing light-bodied white wines with the mild cheese spreads and full-bodied red ones with the aged or heavily seasoned varieties. The same pairings should work for block cheeses and cheese curds snacks.

For the best results, serve the gift basket cheeses at room temperature. If you are worried about the weather, chill the cheeses in your home fridge first. Then pack them in your picnic basket and head off into the afternoon sun. By the time you reach your picnicking destination, the cheeses should be back at room temperature and ready to eat. The wine, on the other hand, may be served slightly chilled.

Top of the morning to ya! If there is anything that gets Irish eyes smiling at this time of day, it's meat snacks and loaded potatoes! So we’ve put together a few meal ideas that will help you bring the family’s littlest leprechauns to the table with an impish twinkle in their eyes. Our first classic Irish dish starts with hickory-smoked ham roll and beef summer sausage.

Most full Irish breakfasts include two types of meat snacks, baked beans, eggs, roasted tomatoes, potatoes, sautéed mushrooms and two types of pudding. They are normally served alongside of Irish soda bread, assorted spreads, teas and juices. For our Americanized version of the dish, we’d suggest pan frying slices of our perfectly seasoned, hickory-smoked ham roll and summer sausage. However, you could opt to use gourmet hard salami, super stick pepperoni, old-fashioned bologna or Canadian style bacon instead.

As for the puddings, the traditional dish calls for black and white. Because many Americans tend to shy away from European style puddings, we’d suggest sticking with an extra helping of creamy braunschweiger liverwurst or cooked oatmeal. It won’t be the same, but the kids are likely to find it more palatable.

When it comes to the baked beans, consider kicking them up a notch. Add a small amount of horseradish products or hot sauces to them before filling up the kids’ plates. The potato pancakes could be made into something extra special too with the introduction of horseradish or Wisconsin specialty cheeses. There are a lot of different cheese flavors to consider, including horseradish cheese. We’d also suggest bringing cheese spreads to the table, which could be paired with the Irish soda bread.

If a full Irish breakfast sounds like too much for your kids to handle, don’t worry. You could always serve scrambled eggs, loaded home fries, Irish soda bread and cheese spreads instead. To load up the home fries, season them with our Loaded Baked Potato Dip and chunks of 95% fat-free lite summer sausage. Then pan-fry the mixture until the potatoes are tender and brown.

Many of the events we share and remember involve food! Get-togethers such as football games or even a big family dinner are obvious events, but cheese gift baskets can add the finishing touch to any occasion. Whether you order one for your own party or give it as a host or hostess gift, a nice selection of delicious cheeses is always a welcome treat!

Do you tailgate? Well maybe not in this current weather, but if you can withstand the cold go for it! Perhaps you prefer to watch the game from the comfort of home, surrounded by good friends and good food. What a great way to relax and enjoy a Sunday afternoon. If it’s your friend’s turn to host, surprise him or her with one of our football themed cheese gift baskets.

If you invite guests for the big game, it’s always nice to offer something to nibble on while waiting for the main event. The tempting aroma of the main course and all those other delicious dishes makes people hungry. We can help you whip up some quick game day snacks.

If you have someone special in mind, or plan to celebrate a different special occasion, consider making up your own cheese gift baskets with an assortment of Wisconsin specialty cheeses. With offerings such as ranch cheddar, onion and garlic, and sun dried tomato and basil, there’s no limit to how creative you can get!

You can also try some exciting recipes to give your party even more pizzazz. Cheese goes with everything, and there are lots of interesting ways to serve it. Get inventive!

Here is a simple yet delicious concoction that your guests will love:

Top slices of cocktail bread with shaved roast beef or ham. Shred horseradish cheese over the top. Finish it off with a thin slice of tomato. Broil until the cheese begins to melt. Serve warm. This makes an absolutely mouthwatering appetizer for any occasion!

*For hardier snacks, use sliced French bread instead of cocktail bread and beef up the toppings.

We are always happy to help you select the perfect item, so please feel free to contact us any time.

Tis the night before Christmas…

and after the stockings are filled, you can whip up a delicious, easy strata recipe because—face it—once Christmas morning gets rolling, you don’t have time to fuss in the kitchen.

The wonderful thing about a strata dish (really a savory bread pudding) is that you are supposed to make it the night before. Perfect!

Then in the morning, while the stockings are being looted, you pop the dish into the oven and set the timer for one hour. Just think—you’ll be able to feed the hungry hoards before the living room disappears under a pile of rustling gift wrap. Santa’s got nothing on you!

The really important thing is that you don’t wait to get these key ingredients from Deli Direct so you’ll have them on hand when Christmas Eve rolls around:
