The holiday season is past us, but that doesn’t mean the spirit of gift-giving has to end. The new year is sure to be filled with all sorts of birthdays, holidays, special celebrations, and reasons to be grateful. As we were all recently reminded, choosing the perfect gifts for the people in your life can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! Couldn't someone special on your gift list use the mood boost that comes with a sausage and cheese gift basket?

Here are a few people you may want to consider.

1. The Over-Doer

Everyone has an over-achiever in their life, that person who has their New Year’s resolutions planned out months in advance—and actually sticks to them. That person might seem to have it all together, but one thing is for sure: that person needs a break.

If you have an over-doer in your life, a gift basket with decadent sausage and delicious cheese can be just the thing for a calm moment to themselves.

2. The Party Hosts

Who consistently throws the best party of the year? Which couple makes it a priority to invite everyone over for a beautiful dinner every few months?

The party hosts are people who love good food and good conversation. They pour over recipes, comb shops for the perfect ingredients, and spend hours cooking their creations. They know and respond to everyone's dietary needs and food preferences.

If you know people like this, you know that they go out of their way to provide fantastic meals for everyone they know. They also probably get tired of cooking.

The next time you are invited to a dinner party or cocktail gathering, bring the hosts a sausage and cheese gift basket. They'll appreciate it when they are cleaning their kitchen the next day and don't even want to think about cooking.

3. The Person With Too Much Stuff

Maybe it's your friend, your brother, or even you own mom, but there is surely someone in your life who simply has too many things. The last thing you want to do is give them another mug, figurine, or sweater that is just going to take up space.

A sausage and cheese gift basket makes a great choice for this person because they can eat it, enjoy it, and even use the basket for holding odds and ends that are scattered throughout their home.

4. The Lonely Guy (or Gal)

Do you have a friend whose relatives live too far away to visit? Or maybe you know someone who was recently divorced and having to spend their birthday or a special holiday away from their kids. People who spend a lot of time alone can easily become depressed.

Bring some light into this person's life with a sausage and cheese gift basket. Then offer some time and companionship in helping them eat it.

5. That Person You Don't Know Very Well

Nothing is quite as awkward as the relationship you have with someone who you barely know but who is important enough for you to feel obligated to give a holiday gift. This could be your dad's new girlfriend, a great aunt who suddenly sent the kids sizable savings bonds, or the neighbor who cut the lawn when your leg was broken. You want to give something special, but you have no idea what the person would want.

A sausage and cheese gift basket is a great way to show appreciation for someone, even if you don't know them well. It's a lovely and thoughtful surprise that is sure to please.

Is there someone on your 2017 gift list that could use a delicious dose of specialty cheese and sausage? This simple gift could truly make someone's day. Contact us for more information and to order a basket for someone in your life.

A cheese gift basket is a unique and delicious gift that is perfect for so many occasions. Whether you want to give a gift "just because" or you're celebrating a special moment in a friend or loved one's life, a cheese gift basket is a great way to show you care. Looking for some great ideas? Consider these three perfect occasions for giving cheese gift baskets.

Birth of a Baby

Cheese gift baskets make wonderful gifts after the birth of a child. The parents are exhausted, and they probably don’t have a lot of time on their hands to prepare meals. In the days and weeks following the birth of their new baby, they’re more likely to snack and graze on whatever they have around. Cheese makes the ideal snackable gift. Have it delivered directly to their home or bring it to them in the hospital to provide a welcomed alternative to bland hospital food. The basket isn’t just practical, though. It’s also an excellent way to let the couple know you care and share in their joy.

Wedding Anniversaries

Cheese baskets make fabulous gifts for friends or relatives celebrating their wedding anniversaries. Most couples want to celebrate over a quiet, romantic evening, and a cheese basket is a perfect addition to their night. Pair it with a bottle of the couple's favorite wine to create a thoughtful and delectable gift. Having a beautiful basket of quality cheeses gives them something to munch on while they enjoy each other's company and reminisce.

Housewarming Gift

A cheese gift basket is also a great way to welcome someone into their new home. In the chaos of moving, unloading, and unpacking, the pantries and refrigerator often sit empty. A basket of delicious cheeses and crackers is the perfect snack to satisfy your friends’ appetites as they get settled into their new home. If your friends enjoy cooking, you can even include the extra ingredients to make a whole meal, including directions for this tasty macaroni and cheese recipe.

The Best Macaroni and Cheese

  • 2 teaspoons vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 pound macaroni noodles
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • Half cup flour
  • 7 cups grated cheese—choose your three favorite Wisconsin specialty cheeses
  • Half teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 small tomatoes
  • Half teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cup fresh white breadcrumbs

Preheat oven to 375°

Add oil and salt to a pot of water. Bring it to a boil and add macaroni noodles. Cook as directed. Drain and cool noodles.

Heat the milk without boiling it. Milk should be very warm. Melt half of the butter, and add the flour to it. Stir in hot milk, and cook for about two minutes or until the mixture is thick and smooth.

Add the cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add the cooked macaroni and stir. Place mixture into a baking dish. Slice the tomatoes and place them on top.

Mix remaining butter and breadcrumbs to sprinkle on top. Bake for 30 minutes.

Whether you are a competitive sports observer or a competitive eater, Superbowl Sunday has something for everyone.  Deli Direct has a few football themed tips to help you score a touchdown with your Superbowl Sunday participation.

Don't get intercepted at a busy store! Most stores get extra crowded selling chips and generic cheese dip right before Superbowl Sunday.  Save yourself the hassle by having it delivered. When the price is comparable to the big stores and the quality exceeds what you can purchase on those shelves, buy it online!

Kickoff your party with flavorful sauces, salsas, and horseradish products! Your guests will love the kick of heat along side their beer as they watch the game (or hover protectively over the snack table).

If you aren't hosting a party, don't fumble the host gift! Take the effort out of gift buying with one of many cheese and sausage gift baskets options. Your host will be surprised and delighted by your gift and you might even get to share some of the delightful treats if they add it to their spread. Now that's winning!

Score a field goal with fun dessert dips! While chip dips are expected, dessert dips add excitement to the game.  Try them with strawberries, grapes or graham crackers. Your competitive eaters will appreciate it and definitely score you an extra three points.

Whatever your Superbowl Sunday plans, score a safety by planning ahead, ordering high quality, american made products like cheese, sausages and dips from company that makes ordering online simple. Contact us here to place an order today!

Let’s face it. In this world there are plain vanilla Veronicas or Vances and those that like to live life with a little more va va voom. If your family members fall on the va va voom side, there’s nothing better than surprising them with meat and cheese gift baskets. Take our Some Like It Hot gift basket as the perfect example. Pound for pound, it’s got more oomph than a heat-seeking missile and better outcome potential than date night at Denny’s.

Two of the items included in the basket are dip seasonings made by A Spice Above. One’s made with jalapeños and the other is packed with habaneras. Both may be used to make an ornery bowl of spicy pretzel sticks, nuggets or rods. Just tell your loved one to toss some of the dip into a bowl along with a cup of vegetable oil and any other seasonings that are sure to tickle their tonsils.

Stir it around and then set it aside while they place the pretzels onto ungreased baking dishes. Once the pretzels are spread out in the pans, have them drizzle the peppery mixture all over the pretzels. Afterward, they should pop the pretzel-filled pans into a preheated, 250 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 80 minutes. At the end of which, they’ll have a heated party snack that goes great with any number of beers.

The meat and cheese gift basket also contains spreads that may be used to make wicked appetizers. For instance, your loved ones could combine eight ounce of the habanera or jalapeño
spread with ¼ cup of Miracle Whip, 2 tablespoons of Worcester sauce and 8 ounces of chopped, smoked oysters or Cajun summer sausage. The mixture could then be shaped into a ball or log, covered with crushed nuts and served with crackers.

The dip seasonings and spreads, by far, are not the only great tasting items in the Some Like It Hot basket either. To learn more about it and other meat and cheese gift baskets, please contact us at Deli Direct today.

Here are a few comments from anonymous soldiers that received some of our products:

"Great taste, came packaged with ice packs, still cool on arrival in Afghanistan. We reuse the ice packs for sore
knees and ankles. Awesome company!!!"

"The cheeses and meats were shared by soldiers huddled together in a freezing bunker..."

To put it simply, we love our country, our customers, and great fresh food.

Try us once and you are sure to become part of our ever-growing family of happy, loyal Deli Direct customers.

It all began with Perl Sausage, a sausage manufacturing company, based in Chicago. Over the past 25 years, Deli Direct has grown from a small family business in the Midwest to the national American presence it is today—and continues to evolve.

While Deli Direct is ever-changing in its assortment of products, one thing remains true—it’s fierce allegiance to American products. Deli Direct uses the finest quality recipes of the Midwest—from hand crafted beef summer sausage, to cheese spreads made from Real Wisconsin cheese, for all of its delicious snack foods and products.

Since Deli Direct is an American based company, we take a great deal of pride in our country. We also take a lot of pride in those who serve on our behalf— and support the Troops of America with great commitment. Through this commitment we are proud to directly ship our products APO/FPO to troops oversees, so we can offer them a taste of home.

Recently, we received this heartfelt thank you from one of our recipients, a soldier serving overseas in Afghanistan:

Let me start by saying thank you to DeliDirect for shipping this basket out to our troops in Afghanistan. This basket arrived the same day riots happened over in Afghanistan and I received multiple thank you messages from our troops as this basket was actually taken into a bunker with our troops during a rocket attack. As I was told the cheeses and meats were shared by soldiers huddled together in a freezing bunker and helped immensely in the moral as they sheltered from incoming rocket fire. I also have to say I had ordered from [another company] another basket alongside this one, but [they] notified me 5 days after I ordered that they canceled because they would not ship items to APO addresses, so again DeliDirect, Thank you so much for supporting our troops when another would not. Soldiers mentioned they loved the Pepperoni/ Peppered Cheese/ Grained Mustard Combination. The Havarti Cheese and Merlot were also big hits. There was one comment that said soldiers joked, "Hey if this is my last meal I am glad it's Wisconsin cheese and not the MRE Peanut Butter." You Guys are Awesome!

We were extremely touched, and are glad we could send a little piece of the US over to those working so hard to protect us. On behalf of all of us here at Deli Direct, thank you for all you do for us!
